About
Described by Musical Opinion Magazine as a "gifted young artist”, George Rowley has quickly established himself as a leading figure in classical music. Amongst his most recent projects was the premier release of the piano sonatas of Ivor Gurney on Naxos. As a soloist, George has performed throughout the UK and internationally, appearing at the Winchester Festival, the Holywell Rooms, the SkyArts Salon, and the Liddell Concert Series, among others.
George is a laureate of numerous international competitions including the Brighton Concerto Competition, the Intercollegiate Beethoven Competition and the Ian Stoutzker Prize. In 2018 George was also awarded the Weingarten scholarship resulting in the pursuit of postgraduate studies at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest.
In addition to his performing career, George dedicates part of his life to the education of young pianists, serving as a professor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire junior department as well as Cheltenham Ladies’ College. He combines his teaching with examining and adjudicating both in the UK and overseas.
George’s mentors have included Mark Bebbington, Mikhail Kazakevich, James Kirby, László Borbély and he received his musical education at Hannover Hochschule für Musik, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Franz Liszt Academy with full scholarship. He has also participated in masterclasses with Natalia Trull, Nikolai Demidenko, Freddy Kempf, Steven Osbourne and Peter Donohoe.
